As long as I can remember I have always wanted to live abroad. I never thought I would be able to do it but somehow I managed to choose a career that allows for international work. I work in Animation / VFX and the main studios are located in LA, Vancouver, London, Sydney and Paris; of course there are many more smaller studios around the world as well.
After working in Los Angeles at Sony and Disney, Albuquerque at Sony and in Florida for Digital Domain I needed a huge change. A life change. I was sinking into the life of a hermit: work, sew, repeat. The social scene in Los Angeles is a tough one. You have to drive everywhere and currently the public transport is not great.
Anyway! I moved to London 7 September 2017 and my contract runs though early 2019. I am working at an animation studios in Fitzrovia just north of Oxford Street and just south of Regent’s Park.
This blog is meant to be a record for myself of my experiences. I also hope to share advice or tips along the way for others who may want to become expats.
